BOYS ? Having already equaled their win total from last year with an 80-48 victory over Rochester Adams, the Clarkston boys track team is off and running this season.
Last year the track team finished the season with an 1-5 record in dual meets.
‘Our program is based on three things: run as hard as you can, do the best that you can and improve every race,? said Clarkston Coach Walt Wyniemko, who has coached boys track at Clarkston for 26 years.
Coming into the season, Clarkston has only five seniors on their 63 man team.
Wyniemko feels the Wolves will find a source of strength from, of all places, their strength events: shot-put and discus. However, Wyniemko is reserving judgement of his team until they are immersed in the season.
‘Sometimes a young man doesn’t show what he is capable of until a competition,? said Wyniemko.
The boys track team’s meet against Southfield on April 12 finished too late for this edition of The Clarkston News. The boys next action is April 14 at Troy High followed by another away meet on April 19 against Lake Orion.
