Hosting Bloomfield Hills in a pivotal OAA White battle on Oct. 1, the Dragons and Black Hawks played to a 1-1 tie.

Black Hawks senior Lincoln Judge opened the scoring about ten-and-a-half minutes in. Taking that one-goal deficit into halftime, Lake Orion senior Lion Zoernack tied the game roughly four minutes into the second half.

Attempting a penalty kick late in the first half, Bloomfield Hills senior Dominic Curti rang one off the crossbar. Both teams had opportunities late in the game, but the 1-1 score held up.

Due to the tie, the Dragons and Black Hawks both received one-point in the OAA standings.

Wrapping up league play at home on Oct. 3, the Dragons fell to the Seaholm Maples – the OAA White champions – by a score of 2-0.

Ethan Gough and Cash Ericson netted the goals for the Maples.

“Our boys gave a great effort and kept the pressure on,” Lake Orion athletic director Chris Bell said of the Seaholm game. “They created multiple scoring chances but could not get one in. We battled a very good Seaholm team and finished one game away from an OAA White championship. Very proud of our team.”

Going 5-1-1, Seaholm racked up 16 points this season, three more than Lake Orion’s 13-points.

Lake Orion concludes its regular season on Oct. 7 at Notre Dame Prep.

Earning a first-round bye, Lake Orion will begin Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) district play on Oct. 14 at Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Hills.
