It was another split week for the Wildcat boys varsity soccer team as they defeated their Oakland Activities Association league foe and tied a former Flint Metro League rival.
Traveling down to Pontiac on Tuesday Oct. 4, the Wildcats were in for a full 80 minutes of soccer as they defeated Pontiac 4-2.
In their first meeting of the season, Oxford blanked Pontiac 8-0 with over 30 minutes remaining in the second half.
Sophomore Chase Garavaglia scored twice in the second half and senior Marco Bonfiglio and sophomore Travis Simat also scored goals for Oxford. With the win, Oxford improves its OAA Blue division record to 6-2-2.
On Thursday, Oct. 6 the Wildcats took on Fenton and battled to a 1-1 tie.
Senior Tyler Mayes scored Oxford’s lone goal in the second half to tie the game at one.
Oxford currently sits at 9-3-3 overall.
The Wildcats traveled down to Farmington Hills Harrison to play the Hawks on Monday, Oct. 10 in a makeup game from August 23 when referees didn’t show up. On Tuesday, Oct. 11 they travel to Hazel Park before finishing the regular season traveling to Flint-Carman Ainsworth on Thursday, Oct. 13.
