The Oxford varsity soccer team ended a very good season with a loss in state district play to Grand Blanc, 1-0.
Grand Blanc went on to beat Lake Orion for the district championship, held at Wildcat Stadium last week.
Coach John Thaler’s team won its opening match in district play, 7-2, over Flint’s Carman-Ainsworth.
In the Grand Blanc match, Oxford played very solid defense, backstopped by freshman Connor Bandel in goal, who had a very good season. The Grand Blanc Bobcat’s speed, especially on defense, prevented Oxford from getting its offense going. Seniors Jacob Wysocki, Paul Tomaka and Josh Nelson were among the team’s leaders all season.
