Ortonville- Beet, Beats & Eats kicks off its third season June 13 and Market Manager Debbie Baker is inviting everyone to Crossman Park to join the party.
‘It is still an awesome place to be on Friday nights,? Baker said. ‘Most people think its a great event and great place to be. Come down and have dinner, listen to music, shop and let your kids play. It’s a big block party.?
The theme of opening night is ‘Garden Exchange? and participants are asked to bring their extra plants and swap for the overabundant plants of others. The party is from 6-9 p.m. and the Ortonville United Methodist Church will provide dinner for a cost of $5. On the menu is barbecue chicken, ‘dressed up? baked beans, potato chips, chocolate mousse, iced tea, lemonade and coffee.
Vendors expected at the first evening and throughout the summer season, which ends Sept. 12, include Connie Donnellon, selling popcorn, sno-cones, and cotton candy; Caryl Lindsay of Michigan Recreation Services, LLC, providing entertainment for children including balloon sculptures, face painting and scissors wizardry; artist Steve Kozlowski; metal sculpture artist Tyler Baker; Bill Stotz, owner of Three Bee Apiary; Holly Slawter, who sells all-natural, non-toxic, handcrafted personal care items; Merrie Ann Berger, a jewelry maker; and LeFleur Decor owners Bob Rosencrantz and Kelly Smith, who will offer plants and produce.
Vendor space is still available at $10 for an 8-by-8 space and $15 for a 10-by-10 space. Products should be homemade. Baker also invites acoustic musicians to come and play.
‘Beets, Beats and Eats is a chance for everyone to come down,? Baker said. ‘Don’t spend gas money to go out of Ortonville, we have a vacation spot here on Friday nights. Hang out with your neighbors and friends, come have dinner and let the kids play.?
