Students weren’t the only ones honored at Oxford Middle School’s eighth grade honors night.
Dr. Karen Sage, the principal at OMS who is retiring this year, was presented with a colorful wall sculpture made by the eighth grade class in appreciation of what she’s done for them.
The eight-foot wide sculpture features thin boards with vibrant colors and natural items, like flowers and animals, depicted on them.
Art teacher Linda Robinson said the surprise sculpture took the students about five weeks to create and will be hung somewhere in the school. She got the idea for the sculpture from an art convention she attended in Chicago.
Student Shannon Seeley told the audience at honors night that the sculpture is ‘very much like Dr. Sage. Vibrant, colorful, visually appealing and energetic.?
‘Thank you, Dr. Sage, for your guidance and leadership and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors,? she said.
