An evening of holiday pops: the Motor City Brass Band

Goodrich – Sounds of the Christmas season will fill the air when the Motor City Brass Band plays for an evening of Holiday Pops.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 7 at the Goodrich High School, Raymond C. Green Center for the Performing Arts, 8029 S. Gale Road.
The Goodrich High School program, FAME (Fine Arts: a Mainstream in Education), is sponsoring the event as part of their FAME signature series, which was instituted to inspire and encourage artistic expression among Goodrich students.
Three students from Goodrich High School will play on stage with the Motor City Brass Band. Matt Zagone will play French Horn, Tom Carter plays tuba and Paul Johnson plays trombone. Three Goodrich Middle School students will also play on stage with the band: Mason Bays will play the trumpet, Tricia Harris plays trombone and Eric Lovenstein plays baritone horn. Band directors Chris Hall and Aaron Orkisz will also join the band on stage and will play the trumpet cornet.
‘This concert will give these students a learning experience they couldn’t get anywhere else. It will be a great opportunity to see wonderfully talented musicians play on stage with our students,? said Hall.
Motor City Brass Band Conductor Craig Strain said the evening will be more than a concert. ‘We pride ourselves in putting on a performance that is more than a concert, it is a show.?
Strain said the music will be in two categories. ‘We will be honoring Pearl Harbor Day, which is on Dec. 7, the day of the event.?
The band will play a piece called Pearl Harbor from the movie ‘Pearl Harbor.?
‘We are going to do a medley of all the armed forces themes and recognize anyone in the audience who served in the armed forces,? said Strain.
