Goodrich – It was a pencil portrait of Janice Joplin that inspired judges to place Jade Nellans? artwork in the top 10 percent during the recent regional show of the Michigan Art Education Association.
The Goodrich High School senior completed the rendering for a class assignment on individuals who made a significant contribution in the 20th century, said art teacher Kay Goodall.
‘It’s an absolutely beautiful piece. It’s rendered very, very well with soft shading,? Goodall said. ‘Jade has a great knack for detail, and this has almost photo quality.?
‘I thought (Joplin) had an interesting look,? said Jade.
