Donald Chris Jidas, Sr., born Aug. 29, 1944 passed away Jan. 1, 2024. He was 79 years old.
Don is survived by wife of 35 years, Cecelia (Wagner) Jidas; and children, Debra Irons, Daniel, Donald Jr. (Lola), Edward (Jessica), Jennifer Jidas-Oriet and Stephanie (Pete) Weingartz; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many many more adopted children. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert, John, Pete (Joy); sisters, Rosiland (Roy) Hughes, Mary (Jerry) Howey, Josephine Trammel, Florence (Jack) Howe; and great many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Florence Jidas; brother, Edward; sisters, Alice Steffens and Mabel Hurley; as well as his first wife, Darlene Kolongowski-Jidas.
Don was “The Man, The Myth, The Legend” too many, he was “the GODFATHER to all” and second Dad to so many. He was a “Jack of all trades, Master of None, though oftentimes better than Master of One.” He was the one everyone went to or called, he listened but also gave his opinion whether you wanted to hear it or not, and it told it like he saw it.
Don loved his family first whether blood or not, he loved gardening, antiques, fishing, playing poker or cribbage with family and friends, and he loved vacationing in Las Vegas and Florida. Don will be greatly missed by so many family members and friends.
A Memorial Service was held on Friday, January 5, 2023, from 2-7pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion.
