Nicholas William Robinson; of Oakland Township; passed away at the age of 76 on October 22, 2023. Nick was born on September 23, 1947, in Highland Park to parents George and Doris Robinson. He is survived by his sister Linda Robinson of Goodrich. He graduated from Berkley High School where he discovered his interest in HAM radios. He quickly became a licensed, HAM Radio operator.
Nick attended Lawrence Tech and studied Chemical Engineering. He was known as a “firework enthusiast” and often made trips out west for firework conventions. He regularly attended the National Pyrotechnics Guild International where he and friends would attend seminars on how to make their own fireworks, enjoy fantastic demonstrations and firework shows. He was also a designer and technician of the firework shows. As the story is told, he may have used his information of fireworks to “allegedly” blow up several beaver dams and restore several areas to better flowing water of lakes and streams.
His life’s work was repairing many different types of electronics and he was an employee for several big companies, including Com Source and Motorola.
He was an avid deer hunter and successfully obtained many bucks in his lifetime on his yearly trips Up North to his land.
The family will welcome friends for visitation on Thursday, October 26, 2023, from 3-7pm at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home, Lake Orion.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
