Sandra J. Rose, devoted wife, dedicated mother, cherished grandma, proud great-grandma “Gigi”, loving sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sept. 9, 2023, with her husband John by her side.
Sandy was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan in 1946. Her life’s journey was marked by hard work, unwavering faith and boundless love for her family.
Sandy wore many hats during her lifetime. She obtained her aesthetician license years ago, took many college courses, was a diligent waitress, a dedicated secretary and a reliable CDS employee.
However, her most significant role was that of loving grandma. For countless years, Sandy lovingly babysat her adored two grandsons, Corey and Austin, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. During this time, her grandsons were blessed with the opportunity to cultivate a deeply meaningful connection with their beloved grandma, forging a profound and enduring bond that will forever be cherished by the family.
Sandra was a staunch Republican and devout Catholic, finding solace in her faith. Saint Dymphna and Saint Christopher, who guided her through her darkest moments, held a special place in her heart.
One of Sandra’s deepest passions was her love of animals, particularly dogs. She recently mourned the loss of her beloved Cocker Spaniel, Cooper, who had been her loyal companion for many years. She missed him daily, so smile because they have been reunited.
In 1978, Sandy and her family made Lake Orion their home where she reveled in the beauty of Square Lake and the tranquility it offered. She thoroughly enjoyed daily pontoon rides throughout the summer. This was her happy place.
Her love for Christmas was legendary and her enthusiasm for the holiday season was infectious. She relished in cooking, shopping, spending time with friends and family, and had a prior passion for ceramics and stained-glass artistry. She enjoyed her monthly visits with her Bunco girls. These women were very special to her heart.
Sandy is survived by her husband, John Rose; her daughters, Natalie (Matthew) Rose-Barkach and Laurie Rose; her grandchildren, Corey (Amanda) Barkach, Austin (Lisa) Barkach, Aiden Violi and Samantha (Jorge) Meza; and her great-grandchildren, Anthony Barkach, Isla Meza and Vivian Meza.
Above all, Sandy was a kind and compassionate soul, with a heart overflowing with love for her family. Her unwavering devotion was a shining example for all who were touched by her love and grace.
Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Orion. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, from 3-7 p.m. at Sparks-Griffin Funeral Home in Lake Orion.
