Puzzles lead to family fun at Leonard Elementary

Pizza, puzzles and loved ones – what better way to spend a cold, wintery evening?
With this thought in mind, the Leonard Elementary PTO hosted its first ever Family Puzzle Night on Jan. 29. The original event featured a jigsaw puzzle competition, snacks, pizza, pop and lots of fun.
“There were 16 families total and everyone had a great time,” said parent volunteer Gery McBride. “The goal was for families to come and spend time together.”
The jigsaw competition included a brand new puzzle, which the families were able to keep, and great prizes for the first, second and third place winners. The competition began sharply at 6:30 p.m. and would continue until 8 p.m. Families worked together as a team to complete their puzzle first.
When a team completed their puzzle, all family members were to stand up and announce the finish to the judges. All families were encouraged to complete their puzzles even after the winners were decided.
Prizes for the evening included games and snacks for the families to enjoy together at home.
The fastest puzzle solvers for the night were the Galbraith family, the second place finish went to the Ott family and third place to the Shafer family.
However, everyone in attendance came away winners at the end of the evening.
They got to spend time with the best company possible – their families!
