Local cable access hoping for award: Brandon Community Access students will be sending in a recent film, recorded at the Brandon Senior Citizen & Activity Center, for a chance at winning an award from American Association of Retired Person.
Work plans continue at Old Mill: Township Clerk Jeannie McCreery met with Township Planner, Dave Donnellon, Historical Society President Tom Stowell, Village Manager Paul Zelenak to discuss qualifications of contractor who submitted a bid for post and beam work at the Old Mill. Township CDBG funds will help support the project.
Recreation plans revised: Trustee Tom Stowell is working with Recreation Director Fred Waybrant on revising the recreation plan. Stowell says he would like to have a public meeting regarding the plan within the next few weeks.
New planning commission member appointed: Sandra Willett, township trustee has been appointed to the Planning Commission for the next year. ‘As has been our practice to rotate township board representatives on the Planning Commission, I am asking if Sandra will accept the appointment,? said Township Supervisor Ron Lapp. Effective Feb. 1, 2004, Willett will replace Doug Palmer, township trustee, who has been sitting on the commission for a year.
Employee milage increased: Effective immediately the township will increase mileage from 33.5 cents per mile to .37 cents per mile, for township employees.The increase is based on Internal Revenue Service standards.
Seniors take a hit: Due to state revenue sharing cuts the CDBG funds expected by the township will be reduced by $865.The cut will effect $400 allocated toward the Brandon Senior Center and $465 allocated toward historical preservation. ‘Teri Stiles
