Leonard writer’s book available in stores

Leonard writer Catherine Brakefield has finally fulfilled her destiny.
Her inspirational romance novel ‘The Wind of Destiny,? was accepted to be published by PublishAmerica in March and hit the shelves of bookstores, like Borders and Barnes & Noble, in May.
Set during the Civil War, ‘The Wind of Destiny? follows the lives of the McFarland family and their many trials and tribulations through love, death, deception, greed and most of all, faith, in a war-torn country.
Brakefield used her late grandmother and her great aunt’s experiences and stories of faith to help her weave through her story. She said the characters of the story are what makes it so down to earth.
‘One girl said to me, ‘you know what, Colleen is just like me,?? Brakefield said. ‘I thought that was the best endorsement I could get for my book’when (readers) can relate.?
Writing ‘The Wind of Destiny? was important for Brakefield because it helps people understand the need for faith.
‘We cannot ignore our heritage,? she said. ‘We are a Christian society founded on that and this book proves it.?
‘The Wind of Destiny? is also available in paperback from Booksamillion.com, Amazon.com and The Shop Around the Corner in Lapeer.
Brakefield will be having a book signing at the Leonard Strawberry Festival, July 15, at 2 p.m. and at the Oxford Public Library on September 14 at 7 p.m.
