Blaze closes Ortonville McDonald’s

The Brandon Fire Department responded to a fire at 9:02 a.m., June 29 at the McDonald’s Restaurant, 925 Ortonville Road. When firefighters arrived the blaze had been extinguished by the automatic ‘Ansul? fire suppression system. When temperatures reach a specific level the system located in the hood-exhaust area activates and puts the fire out, said Cindy Villaire, restaurant owner.
No injuries were reported, however the restaurant was closed following the fire. Two customers and several employees evacuated the building when the blaze was noticed.
Villaire, said the fire was contained to the fry vat stacks used to ventilate the four friers and was the only fire in 12 years since the store opened. Cost of damages were unknown.
