Independence Township’s Parks, Recreation, and Seniors department hopes to expand this year’s Independence Day celebration, literally.
Parks and Rec Director Ken Elwert said the festivities will last three days and could include about 20 carnival rides at Clintonwood Park as well as a larger fireworks show, launched from the campus of Everest Academy across Clarkston Road.
‘We’re pretty excited about this,? Elwert said.
Parks and Rec will receive a percentage of the revenues from ticket sales for the carnival rides, and they won’t need to staff the games like they have in previous years.
‘We’re always trying to make things better and serve more people at a better cost,? said Elwert.
In addition to carnival rides, they hope to reduce parking in Clintonwood by offering a shuttle service to the park. Although locals can expect changes, Elwert said the usual craft show and games will be available.
