Lady cagers win again

Lake Orion’s girls? basketball team began 2013 with a big win over Farmington.
The Lady Dragons clipped the Falcons, 42-33, for their second win in three games after starting the season 0-4.
Lake Orion Coach Steve Roberts said he was pleased how his squad played down the stretch when they needed to hold off Farmington.
The girls hit 10 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter to stop any efforts by Farmington to mount a comeback.
Robert’s young sophomore-laden team is now 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the OAA White Division.
The game was close in the first half and was tied at 18-18 early in the third quarter. The Falcons eventually took a 25-22 lead in the third quarter before the Dragons netted the final seven points in the third quarter. The Lake Orion ladies then added three more points to start the fourth quarter.
The 10-0 run put Lake Orion ahead for good.
Down the stretch, the Lake Orion girls hit their free throws and kept the Falcons in check.
Lake Orion was led by Nicole Krier with 15 points, Melanie Gagen with 12 and Evelyn Winschneyer with eight.
