What is better than being named a high school homecoming queen?
Angela Bennett found out the answer to that question when she was named Albion College’s 2012 homecoming queen during halftime of the Saturday, Sept. 24 football game between Albion and University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point.
Bennett, an Addison Township resident and 2008 graduate of Lake Orion High School, said it felt great to win. ‘It feels really great that I was able to represent the organizations that nominated me,? she said.
Bennett was nominated by the Accounting Society and Alapha Xi Delta, a sorority at Albion that supports Austism Speaks initiatives and raises money for them.
‘I’m the president of Alapha Xi Delta, so I did know that I was going to be nominated by that organization,? Bennett said. ‘The nomination from the Accounting Society was unexpected.?
Bennett said she is on track to graduate from Albion in May of 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management, with emphasis on Finance.
During her time with the college, Angela has been an active member of the Carl A. Gerstacker Institute, an organization which provides business students with professional internships, honors classes and opportunities to meet business professionals.
She is also a mentor at a local elementary school near Albion and is involved in a lot of different organizations on campus.
One area she is proud of is helping organize Alapha Xi Delta’s annual 5k walk/run, which this year raised approximately $10,000.
Upon graduation, Bennett has a job lined up with Ernst & Young accounting firm.
