John Grimshaw was formally installed as pastor of Lakeview Community Church,10023 S. State Road, Goodrich on July 10 with Bishop John Zuck officiating the service.
Grimshaw was originally involved in various music ministries to churches throughout Michigan. He also served at Richfield Church of the Nazarene in Richfield Township and Davison Community Church. He had the opportunity to lead worship, manage the facilities, and organized small groups for a total of 10 years.
‘Our goal is to reach as many people as possible with the truth of God’s word, in ways that are relevant in the world we live in today,? said Grimshaw.
He made his way to Lakeview Community Church in March after his last sermon at Davison Community Church in January 2011. After serving as volunteer staff pastor, Grimshaw was asked by leadership at Lakeview Church to serve as full-time pastor, after former pastor Jeremy Spear’s departure to Roxbury, Pa.
Grimshaw credits his passion for reaching people to be his biggest factor in becoming a pastor for several communities in the area.
‘The vision for Lakeview Community Church is to become more visible in the community. We are a church that values family interaction, strong marriages, community involvement, and helping others.?
For Grimshaw, the adjustment to Lakeview has been smooth.
‘Its been great,? he said.
For the first week at Lakeview, Grimshaw and several other pastors and their spouses attended a ministry conference in Columbus, Ohio.
Grimshaw, a Vassar native, has been married to his wife Sandy for 26 years and has three children.
They currently are Davison residents.
