Lake Orion police cited three people for prowling and a woman had her own vehicle towed, Thursday, Sept. 9.
A 21-year-old Ortonville woman, a 22-year-old Holly man and a 17-year-old Ortonville man were involved in the incident, which occurred near M-24 and Park Island, according to the report.
Lake Orion officers saw a vehicle carrying the three driving without a headlight and a taillight, and decided to follow them. Noticing this, the female driver pulled into a gas station, and all three exited the vehicle and headed to a fast food restaurant.
With the vehicle empty, officers checked the license plate and found it wasn’t registered to the vehicle. Just then, a young man emerged from the bushes around the gas station dressed in a Taco Bell staff uniform. Officers asked if he knew the vehicle, but the man said he didn’t, and stated he was waiting to be picked up after work.
In the mean time, the Lake Orion Police Department got a call from a resident on Park Island who said several people were walking down the street and ducked into the bushes when she looked out the window.
Upon investigating, officers found a woman ? the driver ? and a man hiding behind a pine tree on Park Island. When asked why they were hiding, the woman said it was because she didn’t want to get in trouble for her vehicle’s license plate. She also admitted that they were with the Taco Bell-uniformed man.
Putting the pieces together, Lake Orion police herded the crew back to the gas station when they found the woman’s car was being towed.
The woman said she arranged to have her vehicle towed because she knew police were going to tow it anyway.
