The high school has been without permanent leadership since July, but the search for a new principal appears to be over. According to an email sent by Margaret Hazlett, executive director of human resources, a 14-member committee selected Sophia LaFayette as the final candidate for the position.
The district invited parents to meet LaFayette in the LOHS media center, Thursday, Jan. 7, from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
The potential principal is a Detroit Public School staff member, currently serving as chief of staff to the chief academic and accountability, according to their Website.
