When Varsity Volleyball Coach Kristi McDevitt learned that this would be the teams final season in the FML, one game immediately came to mind.
The Sept. 24 home match against the Fenton Tigers.
It was a first place showdown last Thursday when both teams entered play at 3-0.
The Wildcats were able to get the jump on Fenton in the first game, winning 25-14.
But they couldn’t hold the momentum from the huge first game win as Fenton roared back to take the next three games 25-19, 25-12 and 25-19. ‘We just stopped passing the ball, and therefore couldn’t run our offense,? said McDevitt.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 3-1 in the FML, just one game behind Fenton and Lapeer East.
‘In the first game, we had them back on their heels and on the defensive most of the game, but they quickly turned the tables on us when we couldn’t pass the ball,? she said.
Senior Keeona Ives had eight kills and 12 digs and Senior Danielle Bauman had eight assists and eight digs.
The girls play at Brandon on Tuesday, Sept. 29 and come home to face Lapeer East on Oct. 6.
