The Wildcats Varsity Soccer Team remains undefeated in Flint Metro League play with victories over Lapeer West and Flint Kearsley this past week.
The latest notch on the victory belt came at the expense of Lapeer West, who got pummeled 8-1 on Monday, Sept. 21.
Sophomore Marco Bonfiglio scored a hat-trick and five other players scored for the Wildcats in the rout.
After falling behind 1-0 early in the first half, the boys picked up the intensity and scored four goals by the end of the half.
Senior Captain Travis Roth, Senior Steven Ferguson, Junior Connor Risinger, Junior Matt Frisch and Sophomore Doug Klimbal all had goals for the Wildcats.
‘Their goal ignited a fire under us…the boys played much better and had great possession the rest of the game,? said Head Coach John Thaler.
They also had to come from behind against Flint Kearsley, beating them 3-1 on Wednesday, Sept. 16. They fell behind 1-0 in the first half, but Frisch scored two goals late in the first, giving the Wildcats a 2-1 lead.
Sophomore Alex Juntti put the game away with his goal in the second half.
‘All our games from here on out are going to be tough. If we can focus and play aggressive, we will do fine,? said Thaler.
The Wildcats are 7-3 overall, 3-0 in the FML. They play Fenton on Wednesday, Sept. 23 and Waterford Mott Sept. 26.
