Last month, the Orion-Oxford Eagles Aerie #3613 had a lot of people come out to eat spaghetti and help a family in need when they hosted a benefit dinner on Nov. 17 for the Schrauger family.
“The crowd was fantastic and came in with a strong desire to help support this devastated family,” said Rachel Noel of the Eagles.
The dinner, which was presented under the idea of “People helping People,” included spaghetti, salad, roll, beverage and dessert. Between the proceeds of the dinner and raffles sales, around $3,500 was collected to benefit the family.
According to Noel, the Eagles had help from several Lake Orion High School students who volunteered their time to help at the event that benefitted the family of their former classmates, Josh and Tim. The students helped set-up, clean-up, serve dinners, assist guests with seating and much more.
“They were truly a delight and did anything that was asked of them,” Noel said. “We’re very proud of the young adults in our community that really wanted to make a difference for this family.”
She added that it was also help from local businesses that also allowed this event to be possible.
“We could never have had such a successful event had it not been for the tremendous support from many of our local businesses,” Noel said. “We would like to thank all of them for their generous donations.”
