Deborah’s Stage Door is all about celebrating the holiday season this month with two special events.
The first will take place on Dec. 8 when the center performs A Christmas Spectacular featuring students from Oakland and Macomb counties, as well as America’s 2007 National Dance Champions.
Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph and Frosty will be singing and dancing along with Santa’s reindeer to bring some holiday cheer during the performance.
Also, children can visit with jolly old St. Nick before the show and during intermission.
Performances will be at 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., on Dec. 8, at the Warren Woods Middle School Community Theatre, located at 13400 E. 12 Mile Road in Warren. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15 or by calling Deborah’s Stage Door Center for the Performing Arts at (248)852-8133.
The holiday celebration will continue with performances of The Nutcracker Ballet, featuring the Great Lakes Youth Ballet Theatre.
On Dec. 15 and 16, the Christmas tradition of The Nutcracker Ballet will light up the holiday season with this year’s production that includes a cast of over 65 talented young performers, ages five and up, hailing from all over Macomb and Oakland counties.
Patricia Delgado and Renato Penteado, of the Miami City Ballet, join the cast as ‘Sugarplum Fairy? and ‘Cavalier,? respectively, and the Rochester Symphony Orchestra will perform the score.
Several local students and adults are also involved in the production, from both the Lake Orion and Oxford areas. Lake Orion’s own Charlie Fournier is featured as a demi soloist in the ballet, cast as the ‘Snow King.?
Performance dates are Dec. 15, at 8 p.m., and Dec. 16, at 3 p.m., at the Lake Orion High School Performing Arts Center, 495 East Scripps Rd.
