Ortonville- The new Downtown Development Authority board appears to be nearing completion.
Robert Renchik is the new chairman of the DDA and Robert Flath’s appointment to the board was approved by the village council Oct. 22. Tim Palulian also announced this week that he accepted an invitation to join the board.
Renchik, 54, is a Groveland Township resident who grew up in Ortonville and owns the building presently occupied by Art of Life, 391 Mill St. Renchik formerly owned Raymond James Financial at that location and has been a member of the DDA since 2000. He has been chairman before, as well as treasurer.
‘I want to continue the progress we have made,? said Renchik of his decision to be DDA chairman again. ‘Since becoming a Main Street community, we’ve made great strides. We’ve always been going in the right direction, it’s just a matter of communication. My biggest goal is to let the public know what the DDA is and to get more volunteers.?
Flath is co-owner of The Village Photographer, 421 Mill St., and is also a village resident.
‘I want to help move the village forward and steer the board away from some of its pettiness,? said Flath. ‘I look forward to seeing what we can achieve in the next year or so.?
Palulian has been director of the Brandon Township Building and Planning Department for more than 23 years. He hopes to provide coordination between the village and township.
‘We look at the village as the core anchor of the community,? he said. ‘A viable village to the township is a very good thing. We want to assure that will happen. I know the DDA has accomplished a lot and I hope to bring new ideas to the table.?
