Get out your aprons and famous chili recipes as the Chamber of Commerce will once again be hosting the Chili Challenge in conjunction with Barn Daze, held on Saturday, Sept. 29.
The challenge is open for those interested participants that think they have the best chili, whether it be an individual, organization or business.
According to Donna Heyniger, of the Chamber, not only will awards be given for the first, second and third place chili as well as people’s choice, but individual participants can challenge each other in one-on-one competitions.
There are also plans to award prizes for things like best table presentation or most enthusiastic.
‘Yes, there is a best chili selected,? Heyniger said, ‘but this isn’t serious. It’s just for fun.?
The Challenge begins at 12 p.m., and the cost to enter is $25.
Heyniger said that participation is limited to 20 challengers, so as to keep in mind the ‘poor judges? palates.?
‘They can’t taste too many,? she added.
For those that love chili, but may not be interested in cooking up their own batch, can purchase a chili kit from the Chamber. The kit includes a spoon, three cups to try three different chilis and a ballot to cast a vote for their favorite (the winner will then be awarded the People’s Choice Award.)
