Lions invade Dragon Stadium

Young football players filled Dragon Stadium as the Detroit Lions hosted their Youth Football Camp last week.
‘This camp is designed to teach children ages 6-14 the basic fundamentals of football as well as help improve a child’s beginning, intermediate or advanced skill level,? said Don Thill of Detroit Lions Youth Football.
According to Thill, over 90 children attended the camp that focused on not only football skills, but also worked to teach the participants life skills, including accountability, teamwork, fortitude and goal setting.
‘Not only do we want to help the kids become better players on the football field, we want them to build a strong work ethic for the rest of their lives,? he added.
Campers also got a visit from Lion’s fourth round draft pick, Manny Ramirez from Texas Tech.
According to Thill, Ramirez spoke to the group about his journey to the NFL, listening to their parents and their coaches and staying on the right track in life.
All in all, Thill said the coaches felt the camp went great this year.
‘Orion is always one of our most fun and well attended camps,? he added.
‘The kids in Orion are always pumped up and ready to learn, and their parents are always there to watch and cheer them on.?
