On Friday, May 4, Blanche Sims students spent the afternoon finding out about different career possibilities.
Over twenty volunteers came to speak to the students on careers ranging from being a professional athlete to being a nurse, an architect, a television reporter, a candy store owner and a little of everything in between.
‘Lake Orion has always been a leader in career education,? Blanche Sims Principal Eric Whitney said, adding that Career Day is Blanche Sims? way of starting those efforts at the elementary level. At the high school level, students take part in Career Focused Education (CFE).
Blanche Sims has been holding Career Day for its students for many years, and has consecutively been hosting for the last five or six years under the guidance of coordinator Tammy Oberle.
Each grade level was visited by a couple of speakers about different careers. Some groups got to take part in demonstrations and activities that related to their respective careers.
