One block of Flint Street to close June 1

One block of Flint Street, between Lapeer and Broadway Streets, will close for two weeks beginning June 1, for the construction of a drain connection between the new Sagebrush Cantina and the the village sanitary system.
The Lake Orion Village Council approved the request at their May 22 meeting, on the conditions that proper barricading and signage are put in place prior to the closure, and residents and businesses in the area are notified.
The council also said if the work is not yet completed by June 20, work must be shut down, and the street returned to its previous condition by June 23, as the Lake Orion Lions Club has applied to hold their annual Jubilee, June 29-July 2. Work would then begin again on July 5.
The administration is authorized to grant an additional one-week extension of the closure if needed. Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel said sidewalks on both sides of Broadway would remain open during the construction.
‘We could hold off until after July 4, but that will push back the opening of the Sagebrush,? she said.
Van Tassel said the street will be returned to its prior condition, as will any affected portion of the sidewalk. She said she believes the village requires a $1,000 deposit before work can begin.
