A strong first half helped the Dragons avenge a shootout loss last June against Grand Blanc.
Rachel Bemman scored twice and Ann Sauer added another, giving Lake Orion a 3-0 halftime advantage in the April 29 contest played at LO.
‘Bemman got a couple of breaks and put the ball in the net,? said coach Ken Snage.
She leads the team with 13 goals on the season.
Goalkeeper Ashley Shugar, who was injured earlier in the week, made a few key saves down the stretch as the Dragons held on for a 3-1 win.
‘Today the ball bounced a little bit more our way,? Snage said, after his team completed a difficult week of play.
In their return from spring break, the team fell 2-0 at home against Troy on April 25. But they recovered to muster an impressive tie at undefeated Bloomfield Hills Lahser on April 27.
Shugar battled a second half injury and made multiple key stops in the final minutes of that game.
?(That game) says that our team can play with anyone in the state,? noted Snage.
At times, the Dragons struggled on offense, but Snage attributed that to good defense from the talented Lahser squad, and said his team was equally as impressive.
Against Troy, both teams suffered from the long layover, Snage said.
‘It seemed like both teams were slow out of the gate,? he said. ‘But they made a few good plays and that was that.?
LO is now 7-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in league play, where the physical play appears to be picking up.
‘The kids have started training harder to keep up with the intensity of the competition,? Snage said.
