On a brisk Tuesday afternoon in Goodrich, the Martians? girls track team continued its hot streak in Genesee Area Conference action.
The Martians hosted four teams in an April 25 league meet, and came away victorious against all three opponents. Goodrich defeated Bendle 111-26, Hamady 94-44, and Montrose 111-25.
Goodrich’s Christina Sweet captured the pole vault with a jump of 8?. The Martians also had success in the longer distance relays, with the 3200 meter relay team of Kelsey Meyers, Sweet, Sam Minkler and Kelsey Krych (10:31.6) and the 1600 meter relay team of Meyers, Krych, Sweet and Rachel Henson (4:19.3) emerging victorious.
Goodrich was also dominant in the distance running events, as Sweet won the 400 meters (1:02.4), Krych the 800 meters (2:22.2), Meyers the 1600 meters (5:31.3) and Minkler the 3200 meters (12:48.6).
The Martians? other event win came in the 110 meter high hurdles, where Lauren Warner won in 18.1.
The Goodrich boys team did not fare as well, defeating Hamady 108-29 but losing to Bendle 78-50 and Montrose 89-48.
Stephen Harlow won both the high jump (6?) and the long jump (18.2) for the Martians, while Joe Leppek captured the pole vault (12?).
