Brandon’s varsity girls track team proved to be too much for Oxford to handle in their April 25 meet at Brandon.
The Blackhawks dominated the Wildcats 84-53, remaining undefeated in the Flint Metro League at 3-0. Oxford fell to 0-3 in the league.
Brandon was dominant in the field events, sweeping all five contests. Sarah Bond won the shot put (37?7?), while Savannah Stedman won the discus (112?) and the high jump (5?1?). Danielle Westphall took first place in the long jump (13?11?), while Megan Ostrowski captured the pole vault (7?6?).
Janessa Fahr continued her excellence this season in hurdles, winning the 110 hurdles (17.5) and the 300 hurdles (51.1). Kayla Doan also won two events, the 1600 meter run (5:54.2) and the 800 run (2:41), while Kelsey Carmean took first in the 3200 meter run (12:07.3).
Brandon’s other victory came in the 3200 meter relay, as the team of Carmean, Kelly Wilson, Doan and Kristen Williams won in 11:05.
The Blackhawks also dominated the April 22 New Lothrop Relays, winning the event with 103 points to second-place Hamady’s 58. Brandon took first place in six events on their way to the win.
Brandon won three field events at the relays, and set a new meet record for one of those events. The Blackhawks? discus tandem of Bond and Stedman won with a combined throw of 230?2?.
In addition, Bond and Stedman won the shot put with a combined throw of 61?11-1/4?, while Corie Auger and Ostrowski won the pole vault with a combined score of 14?6?.
Brandon’s shuttle hurdles team of Fahr, Allie Sowa, Sarah Jones and Norissa Sockwell won with a combined time of 113.3, while the 3200 meter relay team of Wilson, Katelin Mackin, Williams and Doan won in 10:58.5.
Doan also won the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:17.5.
In the Saginaw Valley State University outdoor meet April 21, the Blackhawks finished second in Division 2 action with 100 points. Mt. Pleasant won the event with 142 points.
The Blackhawks notched two first place finishes, as Bond won the shot put and Stedman won the high jump. Bond also took second place in the discus, and Stedman followed her teammate in third place.
Wilson added a second-place finish in the 3,200 meter run for the Blackhawks.
