Clarkston swam laps around Hazel Park on Jan. 31, winning 140-31. The Wolves finished first in all 12 events.
Starting the meet off right were senior Josh Badgerow, senior Matt Inch, sophomore Anthony Perrino and sophomore Phil Voorheis, who finished first in the 200 medley relay.
The 200 freestyle relay of Phil Voorheis and seniors Mike Nelson, Matt Inch and Evan McKenzie also finished first. McKenzie and Nelson joined with Perrino and senior Keith Voorheis to win the 400 freestyle relay.
Individually, Nelson won the 200 and 500 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke. Badgerow showed his versatility, taking first in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Phil Voorheis called the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly his own. Senior Jim Peers won the 200 IM and senior Tereau Blake was unopposed in the diving competition.
With the OAA II league meet only two weeks away, Clarkston’s swim team has eased back on their workouts ? the meets are still coming at a steady pace though.
Clarkston’s meet at Dondero on Feb. 7 finished too late for this edition of The Clarkston News. Next up, the Wolves entertain West Bloomfield at home on Feb. 9 and travel to Seaholm on Feb. 16. The league meet preliminaries begin Feb. 21, the finals are Feb. 23.
Peers (500 freestyle), Inch (200 and 500 freestyle), Badgerow (100 fly and 100 freestyle) and freshman Bobby Nelson (100 freestyle and 200 IM) all qualified for the Oakland County meet hosted by Lake Orion on Feb. 4. Swimming against the best the county had to offer, no Wolves graced the medal stand.
