The Clarkston ski teams continued to slide along, both improving to 5-0 on the season after victories over Lahser and Notre Dame on Jan. 18 and 19.
The girls team was victorious by a count of 10-31 over Lahser and 12-26 over Notre Dame in the slalom on Jan. 18. Hannah Wolf, Trish Peters, Alyssa Vermeulen and Heather Barron provided the scoring.
Due to a scheduling snafoo which left the Wolves with only four racers, Clarkston only raced Lahser in the grand slalom on Jan. 19, but still beat the Knights 14-22, with Maddy Dunn, Erica Halsey, Wendy Roberts and Barron powering the Wolves.
On the boys side, The Wolves beat Lahser 10-36 and Notre Dame 14-23 in the slalom. Chris Bland, Cobie Bland, Bradley Gale and Brandon Boozer were the Wolves top finishers on the first day of action.
Again the Wolves only competed against Lahser in the boys? grand slalom and defeated the Knights 10-30. Gale, Scott Huber, Cobie Bland and Chris Bland were the top finishers for Clarkston in the GS.
Clarkston Coach Mike Foyteck foresees a tough meet against Cranbrook, Detroit Country Day and Waterford on Jan. 25 and 26. He was especially worried about DCD and Cranbrook.
The competition gets no easier going forward as the Wolves travel to the Traverse City Invitational on Jan. 30, where they will face some of the best teams in the state.
?(The kids) will go up to Traverse City this weekend to get some experience on the big hills before the invite,? Foyteck said.
