Brandon cagers continue to excel in Flint Metro action

Two days before a key Flint Metro League showdown against Fenton, Brandon’s varsity girls basketball team earned a 47-32 win agaist Holly in a Sept. 27 contest.
The Blackhawks improved to 5-1 overall, while the Bronchos fell to 1-5.
The Blackhawks controlled the game from the opening quarter, when they took a 16-8 lead. Savannah Stedman led the Blackhawks with 11 points, including a 5-of-6 performance from the free throw line, while Mikki Nuccio added eight points.
The Blackhawks also earned a 32-31 come-from-behind win against Davison on Sept. 22. Trailing 31-27 with a minute left, Brandon won the game on Stedman’s free throw with 1.5 seconds remaining.
Brooke Schaefer led the Blackhawks with 16 points in the contest, while Stedman added 11.
After their matchup with Powers, the Blackhawks are scheduled to take on Lapeer East in an Oct. 4 matchup.
