A 50’s finale at Depot Park

Get ready for poodle skirts and muscle cars on July 22. Depot Park will look more and more like a scene from ‘Grease? minus John Travolta, of course.
The last night of this year’s Concerts in the Park series has a 1950’s theme Chamber Event Planner Terri Bendes hopes brings Clarkston residents out in their 50’s garb.
‘We’d like people to dress up whether it’s rolling up their jeans and wearing a t-shirt or slicking their hair back,? said Bendes.
Many special events should give the park a 1950’s feel. The night consists of several contests including: dance-off, Elvis look-a-like, family costume, limbo, Hula-hoop and bubble gum blowing.
Visitors can visit a photo booth with inflatable instruments and pose for a downloadable picture. The picture will be available on the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce’s Web site.
Bendes said many people have been invited to bring classic cars as well.
50’s Night is the second of two special theme nights added to this year’s Concerts in the Park series.
Bendes said the Local Talent Spotlight added last year received great feedback and the two theme nights were a way to recognize Clarkston’s seniors. The idea for the 50’s theme came about as the chamber booked Kevin Tee and the Firebirds, who perform many 50’s tunes.
Look for pictures next week!
