The Lake Orion varsity softball team recorded victories over Troy Athens and North Farmington, as well as a doubleheader over Utica Eisenhower, last week.
The Dragons crushed Athens on May 10, 10-0 in five innings. Bristel Brummit went 2-for-2 for Lake Orion, with a homerun, double and four RBI.
Kelsey Stout and Nichole Woityra each went 2-for-3 for the team.
Playing against North Farmington on May 12, the Dragons had another shutout, 14-0 in five innings.
Lauren LaPine, Kristin Larsen and Stout had two hits each for the team, while Brummit had a two-run homerun.
Lake Orion shut down Utica Eisenhower, taking both games in the doubleheader on May 13. The Dragons won the first game, 13-0, and the second game, 10-0.
Larsen hit a three-run homerun for her 10th of the year, while Sam Bell and Woityra went 2-for-3.
Robin Roe struck out six to win the first game, while Christina Collins had the victory in the second.
Also in the second game, Larsen went 2-for-3, and Sasha Perryman hit a two-run homerun.
‘Robin Roe may be the most underrated pitcher in the state,? said coach Denny Davis. ‘She doesn’t strike out many, but she has won 16 games and has an ERA of less than one.?
Davis said LaPine is becoming the centerfielder the team had hoped for, and Bell has been outstanding defensively.
‘When we moved her up to second in the batting order, she became a major contributor to our success,? said Davis. ‘And Kristin Larsen is having the year of a lifetime. She has 26 RBIs, 10 homeruns and a slugging percentage of .954.?
The Dragons finished the week with a 21-2 record in OAA I.
