Oxford driver lands in swap

Oakland County Sheriff’s Department deputies pulled an Oxford man from his vehicle after he drove off the road and ended up upside down in a swamp along Lapeer Road on April 4.
The accident occurred at 2:08 p.m., as the 33-year-old man was driving northbound on M-24, just south of Scripps Road.
According to OCSD Lieutenant Bruce Naile, commander of the Orion Substation, the man ran off the road, drove through a fence and ended up in a swamp near the Round Tree subdivision.
‘He struck a tree and rolled upside down in the swamp,? Naile said. ‘Deputies removed him from his vehicle and he refused to be transported by ambulance.?
Naile said the man told deputies he had lost control, but Naile said there was no indication the man ever braked.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident and the Oxford man had no passengers in his vehicle.
The man’s 1993 four-door Buick was pulled from the swamp by Buckhorn Towing.
Naile said the scene was cleared quickly and did not hold up traffic on Lapeer Road.
‘He was issued a couple of citations,? Naile said. ‘Apparently he has some type of history.?
Naile said the OCSD will ask the Secretary of State to reevaluate the man’s driving record.
