Four wrestlers off to state finals

Senior Braden L’Amoreaux heads a four wrestler delegation from CHS that will move onto the Individual State Finals March 10-12 at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
‘We wrestled okay. The matches (at regionals) were so close. With the way the competition was we could have qualified no one or all eight guys,? said Clarkston Coach Joe DeGain.
L’Amoreaux lost to Davison’s Brent Metcalf in the finals of the 145-pound division on Feb. 26 at the Individual Regionals at Bay City Western. Metcalf, to date, has gone undefeated in four years of high school wrestling. By virtue of his second place finish, L’Amoreaux could have another shot at Metcalf in the State finals.
Also finishing in the top four of their weight class, thereby securing a berth in the State finals are sophomore Tommy Ellsworth (fourth, 145), junior Josh McAllister (fourth, 152), and sophomore Mike Maguire (third, 103).
The Wolves Bryant Kraft and Mitch Miller (135 pounds), Bryan Webb (140) and Steve Herron (heavyweight) all qualified for regionals but, will not move on to the individual state finals.
