Coming off their divisional meet, both the Brandon-Oxford boys and girls ski teams each took second out of three teams at the Apple Mountain Invitational Feb. 8.
The girls team finished second in the giant slalom behind Saginaw Heritage, 17-23. Karen Offer was second overall with a time of 25.84, while Lauren Bayliss was fourth (26.56) and Miranda Christen fifth (26.74).
Meanwhile, the boys team also finished second to Heritage, 21-25. Robert Krug was the leading local skier, finishing third (25.4). Aaron Vandis finished fourth (26.06), while Chris Platt scored seventh (27.00).
The Brandon-Oxford girls team had a successful divisional meet at Mt. Holly Feb. 4, placing second out of six teams overall with 65 points. Flushing won the meet with 39 points.
Offer led the Brandon-Oxford girls in the giant slalom, placing fourth among all competitiors (48.09). Christen finished eighth (50.47), while Grace Auchterlonie took ninth (51.16) and Bayliss 11th (51.66).
Offer also led the girls in the slalom, finishing third overall (1:03.25). Christen placed seventh (1:07.72), while Auchterlonie finished ninth (1:10.18).
Meanwhile, the Brandon-Oxford boys team placed fifth out of six teams with 131 points. Fenton won the meet with 46 points, while Holly finished second (100).
Krug led the team in the giant slalom (47.69), finishing ninth, while Vandis finished 15th (49.19) and Shawn Dean 21st (49.92).
Vandis and Krug tied for the team lead in the slalom, each finishing in 1:01.84 to tie for ninth overall. Dean finished 17th in 1:05.57.
