Brandon girls place in upper half at states

For the second time in school history, the Brandon girls cross country got on Michigan high school cross country’s biggest stage.
The Blackhawks competed in the Division 2 state girls cross country meet Nov. 7 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. Brandon finished 13th out of 28 teams in the meet with 322 points.
East Grand Rapids (92), Grand Rapids Christian (153) and Dexter (211) were the top three finishers at the meet.
Kayla Doan was the leading Brandon runner, finishing 89th overall with a time of 20:20.35. Sarah Eldon and Danielle Ashford were each a fraction of a second behind, placing 90th (20:20.4) and 92nd (20:20.8).
Rounding out the Brandon scoring were Kelsey Carmean (93rd, 20:22.5) and Kelly Wilson (99th, 20:27.25). Also competing in the meet for Brandon were Jamie Hendershott (137th, 20:59) and Jackie Back (199th, 21:54).
