Hadley firefighters run for honor

Hadley Twp. – Hadley firefighters Jason Harrison, Ed Samulski, Doug Broecker, and assistant chief Kurt Nass raised funds last month for Hurley burn victims and a post-Sept. 11 children’s foundation.
The four made the trip to New York to participate in the Sept. 26 firefighter fund-raiser run through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to honor the late Stephen Siller and 342 other fallen FDNY firefighters.
‘It was very emotional,? said Samulski, who strapped fire gear on for the run, following in the footsteps of Siller, last seen off-duty Sept. 11, 2001 racing through the tunnel toward the site of the World Trade Center devastation.
‘It brought a tear to my eye.?
Hadley firefighters raised $2000 for the Stephen Siller, FDNY, ‘Let Us Do Good? Children’s Foundation and the Hurley Medical Center burn unit.
Hadley Township Fire Department was one of 343 fire departments in the country chosen for the run.
