Atlas Twp. – Beware of anyone peddling stolen meat.
More than $1,000 in meat and $450 in cash and change was taken last week from Wilson Weenies.
The glass door to the restaurant, located at 8233 S. State Road, was shattered sometime between 6 p.m. Aug. 10 and 5:50 a.m. Aug. 11, said Detective Sgt. Joe Parks, commander of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Atlas Township precinct. The damage is estimated at $500.
Taken were two cases of turkey breasts, eight cases of five-pound hamburger packages, a box of Koegel hot dogs, a case of strip steaks, two hams, two cases of bacon, two cases of sausage, a case of corned beef, and a case of hash browns, at a total estimated value of $1,100.
In addition, $400 from the cash register and a box containing $50 in change was taken.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department is actively pursuing the case.
