Brandon Twp. – After investing 24 years as managing director for National Amusements (Showcase Cinemas), Dan Ledgerwood says it’s time to move on.
On April 14 Ledgerwood (R) announced that he is going to run for Brandon Township Treasurer, his third campaign for the treasurer’s spot.
The 14-year township resident has spent the last 13 years on the Brandon Township Board of Review and says he has enjoyed every minute.
‘I feel that because I have been on the board all these years, I’ve learned that we have got to be fair to all the township, to everybody in the township,? said Ledgerwood.
‘That is very important.?
Combined with his board of review experience, Ledgerwood says he is no stranger to managing million-dollar budgets and overseeing daily operations for the Showcase Cinemas parent company.
Ledgerwood says he respects the financial budget of the township and the fact that it’s in good shape financially, promising to make sure it stays that way under his watch. He looks forward to bringing leadership dedication, accountability and understanding to the job with him.
With a long history of overseeing operations for National Amusements, Ledgerwood says he’s not intimidated by practicing controlled spending, adding the township board has a great command with the township budget.
‘Everything has to be in a controlled’safety first fund and we have to keep on top of our rates,? said Ledgerwood.
Understanding that state budget cuts could have a potential impact on investments and spending for the township’s near future, Ledgerwood said keeping on top of interest rates and investment is a front line combat to the impact, but is familiar with the belt tightening as he has recently experienced having to lay off more than 200 employees for National Amusement.
‘Many were friends,? said Ledgerwood who states he is ready to commit full-time to the township he calls home.
