Oxford Bank to come to Goodrich

Goodrich – A century-old financial institution is projected to break ground this year in Goodrich, the first Oxford Bank location in Genesee County.
Bank officials are purchasing eight-tenths of an acre of property at M-15 and Hawes Road from the Goodrich United Methodist Church, ‘pending all approval,? said Jeff Davidson, Oxford Bank chief executive officer and president.
The full-featured 2,800-square-feet Goodrich branch will offer five inside teller windows, two offices, a conference room, three pneumatic drive-through lanes as well as a drive-through window, a drive-up ATM and an ATM vestibule.
Approximately six new employees will be hired to work at the bank, said Davidson. While seasoned Oxford Bank staff will ease the branch through the opening stages, most of the branch staff will eventually hail from the local vicinity.
The Goodrich location was chosen for the way community values mesh with the bank’s own values, said Davidson.
As in its other eight locations, Oxford Bank will offer all standard banking products and more. Customers will find competitive products, such as the many ways to get a free checking account, including simply having senior citizen status.
‘And when we say free, we even buy you your checks,? Davison said.
An independent bank that hasn’t sold out since opening in 1884, reliability and personal service continue despite technological changes.
‘I believe that’s where community banks stand apart,? said Davidson. ‘You don’t call a toll-free number, you call people. When you come in with issues, you get them resolved at the branch level.?
Bank plans will be presented at the Goodrich Planning Commission March 22 meeting. After village approval, plans will be reviewed by the Oxford Bank Board of Directors. With the exception of unforeseen delays, Davidson hopes to break ground this spring or summer.
