Lady Dragons lose to West Bloomfield, 61-35

Lake Orion to face Avondale in districts on March 5

WEST BLOOMFIELD — Lake Orion High School’s varsity girls’ basketball team lost on the road to West Bloomfield, 61-35, on Friday.
The loss gave the Dragons an 11-10 overall record with one game left to play in the regular season.
Senior Izzy Wotlinski led the Dragons in scoring with 15 points and eight rebounds. Senior Charlotte Peplowski and sophomore Kara Veeder scored six points each, and Veeder grabbed four rebounds. Senior Amelia Guccione and junior Elizabeth Crawford scored two points, while juniors Audrey Heist and Jazmine Randolph scored one point. Randolph also collected two rebounds in the loss.
The Dragons’ performance during the regular season earned them the third seed in District 27 of the 2024-25 MHSAA tournament. Lake Orion will face Avondale High School (16-4) at Clarkston High School at 7 p.m. on March 5.
The winner will play against the winner of first-seed Clarkston High School (15-6) or Waterford Kettering (10-10), who is the fourth seed in district 27. Clarkston and Kettering play at 5:30 p.m. March 5.
Clarkston High School is located at 6093 Flemings Lake Rd. in Independence Township.
Results from the Dragons’ final game of the regular season against Stoney Creek (13-6) on Tuesday were not available by press time.
