The Lake Orion American Legion Post 233 will host a fundraiser this Saturday to support the family of Legion member Rose Stevenson, who battled stage four liver cancer and passed away on Monday.
The fundraiser runs from 1-5 p.m. at the Lake Orion American Legion, 164 S. Broadway St. in downtown Lake Orion.
“It’s all to benefit Rose’s fight against cancer,” said Ann Spencer, who is helping organize the fundraiser. “This family is fighting an uphill battle right now and they need our support.”
Stevenson, wife of Army veteran Rob Stevenson, was unable to work while undergoing treatment.
“As a means of help and support, volunteers from the American Legion have a fun-filled day planned,” Spencer said.
There will be tents outside the Legion, live music from local musicians, gift basket raffles, a silent auction, 50/50 raffles and an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner. Entrance is $10. Guests to the fundraiser do not have to be a Legion member to attend. – J.N.
