2020 Battle of the Books

Lake Orion Middle School readers went head-to-head in the districts most competitive reading comprehension competition on Feb. 7 at Scripps Middle School.

A total of 167 students and 34 teams compete in this year’s Battle of the Books competition.

The three Middle School Media Specialists: Rebecca Lowe, Scripps Middle School, Melissa Kempski, Oakview Middle School, and Katherine Montei, Waldon Middle School, organized this years event complete with first, second, third place prizes as well as Best Team Name and Team Costume.

In first place was Oakview’s Return of the Character Crushers. The team consisted of Lindsey Stump, Sydney Eskelinen, James Meyer, Henry Williams, Austin Azarovitz and Devon Gross.

In second place, also from Oakview was Spoiler Alerts. Michie Bach, Lillia Weiss, Marina, Kirklin, Kelsey French and Luciana Lacroix made up Spoiler Alerts.

And taking third place, from Scripps was Fourget Me Not. The team consisted of Sreya Korada, Vandita Sharma, Mantra Kaushal and Manav Khosla.
