Wrestlers drop tough one to OAA I rival

The Dragons were well aware that their hopes of repeating as league champs would rely heavily on their match with Clarkston.
After falling 30-25 to the Wolves on Jan. 18, the Dragons will now need a very strong showing at the league tournament to keep their dreams alive.
The Dragons used pins from sophomores Spenser Grzadzinski and Brendan Tobin, at 103 and 112 pounds respectively, to help take an early 16-6 lead.
Victories by Jake Arnold at 130, Jake Varilek at 135 and Joe Graffeo at 140 kept the lead intact at 25-15, but then Clarkston took over.
The Wolves won the final four matches, which included one pin, to come from behind and take control of the OAA I race.
However, the day was not all disappointing for the Dragons, as they routed Waterford Mott 66-12. They lost at only three weight classes in that match.
LO is now 22-3 overall and 2-1 in the league.
The league tournament will be held at Lake Orion High School on Feb. 10.
